Man makes work injury claim after falling through roof

A worker, who has been left permanently disabled after falling through a roof, has made a successful work injury claim.

The sixty-six-year-old man from Shrewsbury, was working as a commissioning engineer with Siemens and had been was installing CCTV cameras, at Lime Street train station in Liverpool, when the accident occurred.

In order to finish the job the man, who has not been named, needed to access a junction box on the station’s roof after gaining permission from Network Rail.
However, as he went to do this, the roof ended up collapsing beneath him and caused him to fall four metres below on top of a fridge.

Man compensated after poor lighting led to accident

A railway worker from Ipswich has made a successful injury claim against his employer, after poor lighting in a yard resulted in him tripping and suffering painful injuries.

The man, who had been working as a railway worker for almost 30 years, had been working as a health and safety representative for the company, at the time of the accident.

He had previously warned his employer that the poor lighting at the depot was an accident waiting to happen, however, his bosses ignored his repeated concerns.

Just a few weeks later, the man had been walking across the yard at night in order to drive a train, when he ended up tripping on some discarded rails.

Lorry driver injured by 35 kilo metal bar in faulty trailer

A lorry driver has received personal injury compensation after suffering a serious back injury from a faulty vehicle.

The forty-eight-year-old man from Barrow in Furness, had been working as a lorry driver for the company TDG, when the accident happened.

He had been loading a trailer for his employer on behalf of the personal care products manufacturer Kimberly Clark. A metal beam, which was used to support and partition the trailer’s roof, all of a sudden collapsed while he was sliding it into position.

Carer compensated after suffering serious back injury

A care worker has made a work injury claim after she was forced to give up her career due to a serious back injury.

Thirty-five-year-old Julie Bowler from Leicestershire, had been working for Southern Cross-owned Rowans Nursing Home in Coalville, when the accident took place.

Mrs Bowler and another colleague had been trying to turn a patient onto her side, but hadn’t been provided with special ‘turn sheets’, which would have made the process much easier.
