Carer compensated after suffering serious back injury

A care worker has made a work injury claim after she was forced to give up her career due to a serious back injury.

Thirty-five-year-old Julie Bowler from Leicestershire, had been working for Southern Cross-owned Rowans Nursing Home in Coalville, when the accident took place.

Mrs Bowler and another colleague had been trying to turn a patient onto her side, but hadn’t been provided with special ‘turn sheets’, which would have made the process much easier.

New mother awarded compensation after medical negligence

A woman has made a successful personal injury claim for medical negligence, after she suffered problems while giving birth.

The woman, who has not been named, found herself 10 days overdue when she eventually went into labour and was taken into hospital.

As there were issues with getting the baby out, it was decided that the woman should be assisted with the aid of a forceps delivery. The baby came out healthy, however, the new mother had sustained a major fourth degree tear due to the type delivery.

A lorry driver has made a work injury claim after he damaged his shoulder, despite warning his employers about his concerns involving the dangerous way vehicles were being loaded with scrap and rubbish.

Sixty-one-year-old Alan Snook, form Somerset, had been working for waste management firm, Wincanton Logistics as a shunter on the firm’s Comet contract, when the accident occurred.

Hospital worker compensated after suffering shoulder injury

A hospital worker has made a successful work injury claim after she sustained injuries to her shoulder due to having to help a 20-stone patient.

The fifty-three-year-old from Radford in Worchester, was working as a technical instructor in physiotherapy at Alcester Community Hospital in Warwickshire, when the accident occurred.

The worker, who has not been named, was helping the patient with another colleague, to lean on a pulpit frame as part of his rehabilitation.
