Man injured after falling down 10-inch deep pothole
A man has made an injury claim after falling down a pothole after returning home from Appleby Bridge Station, Chorley.
The Sixty-two-year-old former fire fighter, from Chorley in Lancashire, had been walking from the station after a day in Manchester. It was very dark and raining and as he stepped off the pavement on Station Road, his foot landed straight in a pothole.
The pothole, which was a foot wide and 10 inches deep, was full of rainwater, meaning that spotting the hazard before it happened was not likely.
Man chokes on piece of rubber found in crisp packet
A man has made a personal injury claim after choking on a piece of rubber that had been left inside a crisp packet.
Fifty-three-year-old Peter Collins had been eating from a bag of Walkers crisps while watching television with his twenty-six-year-old son Joshua.
As he was eating from the rib-flavoured packet of crisps, from a Walkers multi-pack, he started choking on a foreign object that had got stuck in his throat.
Factory worker develops occupational asthma
A worker has made a work injury claim after developing respiratory problems due to being exposed to excessive levels of dust and dry powder products.
The man, who has not been named, was employed as a factory operative, which meant he was required to tip large sacks of dry product into mixers. He would have to throw flour dust and other hazardous materials into the air, all of which were deeply inhaled by the worker.
Railway maintenance worker develops Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A Network Rail employee has made a successful work injury claim after developing a debilitating hand condition.
The track maintenance worker, from Nottingham, had been using vibrating tools during up to 12-hour shifts, which has ultimately caused him to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
The condition, which leads to numbness and muscle weakness, has affected both of his hands due to such excessive exposure to constant levels of vibration.
